Alexander Isaac, health ministries director for the Caribbean Union Conference, said the church saw health work as part of its wider mission. “Healthcare ministry remains one of the most effective ways for the church to engage communities and reveal Christ’s love in practical ways,” he said. “As we care for people physically, we also create opportunities to minister to spiritual needs.”

Barbados Gives Sir Garfield Sobers Final Farewell at State Funeral

Sir Garfield St Auburn Sobers, one of the greatest cricketers in Caribbean history, was laid to rest on Wednesday at a state funeral in Barbados. Hundreds lined the streets as the procession passed through the island under overcast skies and intermittent showers. Thousands more gathered at Kensington Oval, where the main service of thanksgiving was held, before the casket was taken to Coral Ridge for burial in an area set aside for other icons and legends.
