The Cayman Islands Girls Under-15 National Team have been crowned 2026 Goombay Cup champions after defeating Bermuda 1-0 in their final group-stage match in the Bahamas.

Ari Eden scored the decisive goal in the 60th minute, heading home from a corner to secure the victory that sealed the title.

Cayman completed the tournament unbeaten, winning four matches and drawing one. The side scored 13 goals and conceded only once across five matches, finishing with victories over Grenada, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands and Bermuda, alongside a draw with the Bahamas.

The result marks a notable achievement for the programme and continues a period of progress for girls' football in the Cayman Islands, with a number of youth players progressing through the national team pathway.

Speaking exclusively to the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA), Cayman Islands Women's National Team midfielder Molly Kehoe said the success demonstrated the strength of the country's emerging talent.

"I want to congratulate the Under-15 girls who just won that tournament in the Bahamas. Yeah, I've seen that on social media. And that's a perfect example of, you know, we have some very good players coming through the system, and they need to believe in themselves."

The Goombay Cup campaign began with a 7-0 victory over Grenada before Cayman drew 1-1 with the Bahamas. The team then recorded consecutive wins over the U.S. Virgin Islands (1-0), Turks and Caicos Islands (3-0) and Bermuda (1-0) to finish top of the standings.

The performances were built on a disciplined defence as much as an effective attack. Cayman scored 13 times during the tournament while conceding just a single goal, underlining the consistency that carried the side to the title.

The triumph provides further encouragement for the continued development of the women's game in the Cayman Islands and offers another indication of the depth of talent emerging through CIFA's youth pathway.
