This is what protects people most

Fron Joanna Ewart-James, Freedom United

Today -Dec 20 - is International Human Solidarity Day, a moment to recognize something we see every day in this work: exploitation thrives when people are isolated, silenced, or treated as disposable—and it weakens when communities stand together.

Around the world, people facing forced labor, coercion, or abusive migration policies rarely have the protection of systems designed to safeguard their rights. What they do have is one another—and the collective pressure of people who refuse to look away

Your gift strengthens that collective effort—and we need it now more than ever.

Solidarity is not symbolic in this work. There are those who profit from deepening division and policies that frame people as threats rather than rights-holders. That erosion of solidarity creates the conditions in which exploitation is tolerated and allowed to grow.

Your solidarity helps expose forced labor systems that rely on global indifference. It’s what challenges policies that leave people vulnerable to coercion and abuse. And it’s what keeps attention on situations that powerful actors would prefer remain unseen
