From sustainable aquaculture to renewable ocean energy, the Macaronesia islands are at the forefront of innovative projects that are creating jobs, income, and business opportunities, while preserving the fragile marine ecosystems. These projects are leveraging the unique characteristics of the islands, such as their geographic location, favorable climate, and abundant marine resources, to create sustainable and inclusive Blue Economy initiatives.

Yesterday, we hosted a discussion on Driving Investment in the Blue Economy in Portugal and Macaronesia. Our panel of speakers shared their knowledge and experiences on how Portugal and the islands (Cabo Verde, the Azores, the Canary Islands and the Portuguese regions of Madeira) are leveraging the blue economy as a driver of economic growth.
