Cayman: Walkers hosts annual career fair

Grand
Cayman
, December 2019

On 19 November 2019, Walkers welcomed
more than 70 students, parents and faculty members from multiple high
schools and tertiary institutions in the Cayman Islands to its annual
career fair in George Town. Students from Clifton Hunter High School,
Triple C School, Grace Christian Academy, Cayman Academy, John Gray
High School, UCCI and the Truman Bodden Law School attended.

Hosted at Walkers' Elgin Avenue office,
members of the Walkers Trainee Committee and Partners presented on
the broad range of legal and non-legal career options available at
Walkers as well as internships and legal scholarship opportunities at
the firm. The students also had the opportunity to meet with Walkers
staff from IT, marketing, human resources, project management,
professional support and facility services as well as team members
from the legal and professional services groups.

Following the presentation the students
were split into two teams and challenged each other in a game of
interactive Tic Tac Toe, and a number of prizes were snapped up by
delighted students who managed to get a game piece on the board.

Jordana Clarke, Head of Learning and
Development, commented: "It is pleasing that so many students
attended our event to discover the many career opportunities
available to them at Walkers. We hope the students enjoyed the fair
as much as we did."

Caroline Heal, Partner and Chair of the
Trainee Committee, said: "I am delighted to assist in hosting
this fantastic event. The Walkers Trainee Committee is dedicated to
providing the very best career opportunities to the Cayman Islands
future professionals."

Walkers has a proud tradition of
training the next generation of Cayman's workforce. The firm's legal
training programme has been in existence since 1983 when the firm
brought in its first two articled clerks - Frank Banks and Wayne
Panton - making it the oldest legal training programme in the Cayman
Islands. Since then, Walkers has expanded its training offerings to
include development programmes for Caymanians such as the Junior
Legal Secretary Training Programme and the Fiduciary Services
Development Programme. Walkers also actively participates in the
different mentoring programmes in Cayman and offers students a range
of work experience and internship placements each year.
