The
Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation (CIEF) kicked off the
competition season with the first leg of its National Jumping Series,
which was held this past Sunday at the Equestrian Center located in
George Town, just off the Linford Pierson Highway.

Highlights
of the day include three riders, Katelyn Lastrina, Emily McDonald and
Nadia Thompson, who were competing for the first time in a CIEF horse
show. It was also the first time ever for Ava Law competing at a
jumping event, and she won the 0.6 meter class riding Amarilla.
Other winners include Madison Ameline who won on Twinkle in the 0.7
meter class and Leah Alberga riding her Moon Lady, who won both the
0.8 meter and 0.9 meter classes. It was also the first time Ms.
Alberga was competing at 0.9 meters.

Islands’ government to prevent the abuse of horses on the island.
The CIEF is also a founding member of the Caribbean Equine Relief
Fund, which provides aid to horses and their owners in the Caribbean
following major hurricanes, most recently to those impacted by
Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.
