Under 15 Boys to face Antigua in Quarter Finals

Following final results from Monday’s group games in the 2015 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under 15 Boys’ Championships in St. Maarten, Group 1 winners, the Cayman Islands, will play Antigua & Barbuda in the quarter finals.

The schedule for the quarter finals on Wednesday, August 12 is as follows:

9:00 am: Dominican Republic (Winner Group 2) vs. St. Vincent (Best 3rd Place)

3:00 pm: St. Lucia (Runner-up Group 1) vs. Grenada (Runner-up Group 2)

5:00 pm: Cayman Islands (Winner Group 1) vs. Antigua & Barbuda (Runner-up Group 3)

7:00 pm: Curacao (Winner Group 3) vs. Anguilla (2nd Best 3rd Place)

The Cayman Islands topped Group 1 with a 2-0 victory over St. Lucia, a 4-0 victory over USVI and an 8-0 victory over Anguilla.

With the Cayman Islands team qualifying for the quarter finals, an excited CIFA Vice President and Interim President Bruce Blake said, “I am tremendously pleased with the coaching staff and players for going undefeated in our group and advancing to the quarter finals. Following on from the inaugural CONCACAF Under 15 Boys’ Championships in 2013 where the team performed very well, the goal for this group was to advance from the group stage. The team has met this goal. The team and coaching staff are very talented and I have no doubt that they are capable of advancing to the finals. Cayman should be proud of our boys. Let’s go Cayman!”

Under 15 Boys defeat Anguilla in the CFU Under 15 Championships

The Cayman Islands Under 15 Boys National Football Team topped Group 1 and secured a spot in the quarter finals of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under 15 Championships with an emphatic 8-0 defeat of Anguilla on Monday afternoon.

Goals from Nicholas Chung (2nd), Gonzalo McLaughlin (18th), two from Kareem Foster (35th and 67th), two from Kameron Mendez (45th and 70th), Jose Ebanks (62nd) and Kion Parchmont (63rd) secured the win for the local boys.

In Group 1 play, the Cayman Islands defeated St. Lucia 2-0, United States Virgin Islands (USVI)

4-0 and Anguilla 8-0.

The coaching staff is comprised of Head Coach Ernie “Gillie” Seymour, Assistant Coach Dion Brandon and Assistant Coach and Manager Antwan Seymour.

Following the match, Head Coach Ernie “Gillie” Seymour said, “We have met our objective of reaching the quarter finals and the rest is left to God Almighty. The boys have represented their country superbly and will do their best on Wednesday.”

Twelve countries are competing in the CFU Under 15 Boys’ Championships being played in Anguilla and St. Maarten over the next week. The 12 countries are divided into three groups of four - Group 1: Anguilla, Cayman Islands, St. Lucia and the United States Virgin Islands; Group 2: Bonaire, Dominican Republic, Grenada and St. Kitts & Nevis; and Group 3: Antigua & Barbuda, Curacao, St. Maarten and St. Vincent & The Grenadines.

As Group 1 winners, the Cayman Islands will face the runner-up in Group 3 in the quarter finals scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12 in St. Maarten.
