Superheroes are almost single-handedly saving the US box office

- Releases like "Logan," "Wonder Woman" and "Spider-Man: Homecoming" have helped offset disappointing performances from sequels.
- Box office receipts are down 7.7 percent between May and July 9 compared with the same period last year.
