Cayman Islands: YMCA Camp offers Summer Choices
Registration
for the annual YMCA Summer Day Camp programme is now open. Camps
will take place from Tuesday, 2 July to Friday, 23 August, making it
one of the only camps on island running the entire eight weeks of
summer break. Camps are spread across three locations – Field of
Dreams (FOD), Camana Bay Sports Complex (CBSC) and the Youth Centre
at the Cayman Islands Baptist Church (CIBC) in Savannah. Additional
days of camp have recently been added due to the number of schools
breaking early for the summer. Families can now register for Y Fun
Days offered Wednesday – Friday, 26-28 June at the Field of Dreams.
“The
YMCA is excited to make it a “Summer to Remember” for families
who are seeking a safe environment for their children to stay active,
make new friends and have fun! Our caring, well-trained staff members
are dedicated to providing new, exciting and character-building
experiences and memories that will last a lifetime. We are all
looking forward to a fun and impactful summer,” says Jenny Stuesser
who oversees the Day Camp programme.
Families
can choose from six unique camp experiences, open to varying age
groups, says Mrs. Stuesser. “Whether they’re problem-solving on
the ropes course or developing their swim skills at the pool, kids
will be a part of a camp experience that is founded on the Y
Character Development Programme, which integrates the values of
honesty, caring, respect, responsibility and faith into all we do.”
New
this year is Discovery
Camp,
a STEM-focused camp (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
which will include activities such as wild science experiments,
discovery with drones, and LEGO engineering. This programme is open
to kids ages 8 to 12 and takes place at the CIBC Youth Centre
(Savannah).
