Cayman: Groundbreaking for Airport Connector Road

The Ministry of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure and the National Roads Authority will host the ground-breaking ceremony for the Airport Connector Road on Friday, August 28, 2020, 8:00 a.m.

It will be held in the vicinity of the Airport Connector Road on the Esterley Tibbets Highway (that leads to the Cayman Islands International School).

Present will be Hon. Joey Hew, Minister of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure, Edwards Howard, Acting Managing Director, National Roads Authority, Representatives of DART, and the Project Manager.

Background

The
National Roads Authority (NRA) will commence work on the Airport
Connector Road Project.

The
project will
connect the Owen Roberts International Airport area to the Esterley
Tibbetts Highway and provide an alternate route to North Sound Road.
Phase One of the project will run from the end of Sparky Drive north
for approx. 0.3 mile and then in a westerly direction for 0.5 mile to
intersect with the roundabout just south of the National Gallery on
Esterley Tibbetts Highway. The NRA has contracted Decco Ltd, part of
DART’s real estate division, to provide project management
services.
