On Friday, 4 January, just before 6PM, police responded to a residence off Austin Connolly Drive in East End regarding a report of a missing young child.  Shortly after arrival police were informed that the child had been found by a family member in the water along the shoreline.

The child, a girl, just under two years old, was conveyed by ambulance to GTH, where she was pronounced dead. 

The incident is under police investigation.
