Motorists in central George Town this morning experienced longer delays than usual due to the construction of a stage for Pirates’ Week activities this evening.  Harbour Drive was closed  at 6pm last night as requested by the organizers to allow for the construction of the stage last night, but was due to be fully re-opened at 6AM this morning.  It was re-opened, however, a portion of the stage protruded into the road, blocking one of the lanes of Harbour Drive.  Officers responded to the situation by directing and diverting traffic, but the reduction of Harbour Drive to a single lane caused serious delays.
