The
Maples Group is pleased to support the Alicia
Thompson Award, a
newly developed award established by George Town Primary School
bestowed to one exemplary student in Year 6 at the school's annual
graduating ceremony.

The
award was created in honour of the school's past pupil, Alicia
Thompson, now an associate at the Maples Group's law firm. Each
year, one student who has demonstrated both academic and
extra-curricular excellence despite challenging personal
circumstance, will receive this special recognition. The award, which
made its inaugural debut at the school's graduating ceremony in June,
includes an honoury plaque and a gift certificate for Kirk Office.

The
2019 awardee, Samara
Walters, was given the award personally by Alicia, who attended the
ceremony and also delivered a speech to the students.

The Maples Group partnered
with George Town Primary School to bring the initiative to fruition
by sponsoring the award and also providing the monetary gift
certificate to support the recipient with purchasing school supplies
for the upcoming school term.

"George
Town Primary School had an immensely positive impact on my education
and formative years. I have very fond memories of my time there"
commented Alicia. "I was delighted to come back to speak to the
students at the annual graduating ceremony and I hope that my story
will inspire young Caymanians to work hard as a good work ethic is
valued and never goes unnoticed. They should also appreciate their
teachers for their commitment to giving every student a wholesome
education."

Alicia
joined the Maples Group in November 2016 as an articled clerk and was
admitted as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands on 8 June 2018.
She is now a lawyer in the Finance team.
