Guidance on the Handling of Arrests and Bail Procedures in the Cayman Islands

From Office of the Commissioner of Police (OCP)

In the interest of transparency and accountability, the Office of the Commissioner of Police (OCP), in coordination with the Commissioner of Police for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), is releasing guidance regarding the procedures surrounding the arrest and bail of individuals, including foreign nationals, within the Cayman Islands.

This document has been prepared to ensure that both the public and law enforcement personnel have clear, consistent guidelines on how officers are expected to engage with individuals during the course of their duties. It outlines best practices for interactions with witnesses and suspects in police-related matters.

The document, located here<https://www.rcips.ky/about/organisational-documents/>, on the RCIPS website under Organisational Documents, is intended to support a professional policing approach that aligns with legal obligations and public expectations.

The RCIPS remains committed to maintaining open communication with all sectors of the Cayman Islands community.
