Juvenile Charged
A 15 year old male resident of Bodden Town arrested last Thursday on suspicion of burglary has now been charged with two counts of burglary at the ‘Look - Out Mini Mart’ on Anton Bodden Drive, Bodden Town between 26 May 2015 and 27 May 2015.
The accused was also charged with separate counts for theft and possession of a controlled drug. He appears before the court today.
TASER Deployment
Just after 11:00pm Sunday 31 May 2015 Uniform Officers from the Uniform Support Unit (USG) attended a call for service at a Vibe Lane, residence in West Bay. The report involved a disturbance at the address with a 25 year old male armed with a machete. On arrival, the responding officers were challenged by the accused in threatening manner as he advanced towards the officers, despite commands by the officers to drop the weapon; he continued to swing the machete at the officers.
TASERS were deployed to subdue the accused after he continued his aggressive advances and non-compliance. The accused was safely arrested without any serious injuries to himself or the officers. He was transported to the George Town Hospital where he was admitted under the care of a doctor in the Mental Health Unit.
The restraint, patience and professionalism exhibited by the armed officers in using a less lethal option other than the firearm was praised by their commanding officer, Detective Superintendent Robert Scotland. Mr. Scotland went on to say, ‘Had this incident occur in other jurisdictions, the results could have been much different’.
