Cayman: HEALTH CITY SUSPENDS ELECTIVE SERVICES THROUGH TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6. NORMAL OPERATIONS TO RESUME ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7

CAYMAN
ISLANDS (October 5, 2020) – As of 1pm on Monday, October 5, the
Cayman Islands remains under a Tropical Storm Warning. Following the
latest updates from both the Cayman Islands National Weather
Statement and the U.S. National Hurricane Center, TS Delta’s
forward movement has slowed to 7mph and the track has moved slightly
westward. The system is now more organized and showing signs of
intensification.

It
is now forecast that Tropical Storm force winds of approximately 60
mph will affect Grand Cayman from about 3am on Tuesday, October 6.
Depending on how close the storm passes, heavy rains are anticipated
to begin at 11pm on Monday, October 5 with Tropical Storm force winds
lasting between 3am and 11am on Tuesday, October 6. The all clear is
forecasted by 1 pm on Tuesday, October 6, but there will still be
heavy squalls as the storm moves away from the Cayman Islands as a
projected hurricane.

Based
on these projections, Health City Cayman Islands has taken the
decision to suspend all elective services, including outpatient
appointments, diagnostic services, and elective surgeries, through
Tuesday, October 6 and to resume normal operations on Wednesday,
October 7. We look forward to welcoming our outpatients and elective
surgery patients on Wednesday morning.

All
emergency services will continue to be functional around the clock
throughout the storm, and all emergency staff will remain on-call.

Health
City Cayman Islands is urging everyone to be prepared, stay safe, and
stay tuned to official sources to monitor the storm track and adhere
to emergency announcements.
