34 confirmed cases and 4 new cases of Dengue under investigation

Dengue Update as of 5 January 2013

  • Total cases investigated for dengue in 2012 is 94 and 1 for 2013.
  •  Since the last update as of 22 December 2012, there had been 4 new cases under investigation. None of them had travel history to an endemic area. 3 of them were residents of George Town, and 1 from Bodden Town.
  • 17 results were received from the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC) this week -- of whom 3 were positive for dengue.
  • Thus the total results received are: 86 cases with results (34 positives, 48 negatives, and 4 inconclusive) with 9 results pending.
  • Distribution of all confirmed cases: West Bay 25, George Town 5 and Bodden Town 4.
  • Total hospital admissions: 25 (13 confirmed cases, 9 negatives and 3 pending results).
  • Out of the 11 with travel history: 6 from West Bay; 3 from George Town, and 2 from Bodden Town.
  • Of the 23 without travel history: 19 from West Bay, 2 from George Town and 2 from Bodden Town.
