Twitter post by @realDonaldTrump: Does the so-called “Senior Administration Official” really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source? If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to government at once!

A number of top US officials have denied that they are the author of a damning anonymous editorial that attacks President Donald Trump.

What's in the editorial?

How has the White House responded?

Why does it matter?

Twitter post by @BBCJonSopel: So much puzzles me about Mr/Ms Anon in @nytimes - if you really think best interests of state are served working covertly inside to thwart president, why blurt out what you’re doing? Aren’t you making @realDonaldTrump case of a #DeepState? Surely resign or keep schtum?

Twitter post by @awzurcher: This NYT op-ed probably has more to do with the mid-term tsunami that's heading toward the Republicans. The approach may predate the Woodward book, but it comes right around when a lot of bad poll numbers for Trump/generic Republicans started dropping. Folks are eyeing lifeboats.
